Homeless Services - Volunteer Opportunities
You can help provide services and support to people in our County who are experiencing homelessness. Through the Continuum of Care (CoC) program, volunteer opportunities are available for individuals and groups of all ages.
Point-in-Time Count
One important way community volunteers can assist is to help with the CoC's annual point-in-time count. Each January, the CoC counts the number of families and individuals experiencing homelessness and gathers information about their demographics. It also counts how many people are sleeping in cars, abandoned properties and other places that aren't meant for human habitation.
The count also helps us learn about who is experiencing homelessness in our community—like families, youth, veterans and people who are chronically homeless—and provides key data about gender, ethnicity and race. This information is critical to planning and funding homeless services.
