California Green Business Network websiteWant to be recognized for being a "green" business?

Want to shop at a business that's protecting the environment?

Then the Green Business Program is for you.

First, what is a "Green Business"?

Green Businesses conserve energy and water, recycle and reduce their waste, and make sure they don't pollute. They're certified according to set standards by a team from PG&E, the water company, solid waste, and agencies protecting storm water, wastewater, air, and soil.

Customers

If you are a customer, there are hundreds of Green Businesses in Contra Costa to choose from, including auto repair shops, hardware and grocery stores, financial consultants, printers, landscapers, and hotels. Look for a full listing at the California Green Business Network website.

Doing business with them means that your dollars are supporting their efforts to protect the environment. And it's how we all help to "green" Contra Costa.

Businesses

As a business, you'll get credit for all of the good things you're already doing, and we'll help you with other things you can be doing to conserve energy, water and other materials, and to prevent pollution. Once you've qualified, we certify you as a "Green Business" and recognize you before the County Board of Supervisors, list you in our directories and on the web, and give you a window decal so customers will know you're "green". There's no cost and it's voluntary.

What Some of Our Green Businesses Say

Becoming a Green Business is a no-brainer - a win-win situation that saves you money and protects the environment. Customers appreciate our being a Green Business.
- Bob Buchen, Complete Auto Repair Service, San Pablo

Becoming a Green Business was really worth it. Unlike some other government programs, it was a positive experience. And when customers see my Green Business decal, it gives me a chance to explain all of the good things we're doing to protect the environment.
- Tom Stice, Tom's 76 Auto Service, Danville

We've always felt that being green was the right thing to do for our community, and in fact made this commitment years ago in the operations of our stores. Thanks to being certified in the Green Business Program, the public now knows of this commitment as well.
- Bill Wygal, Bill's Ace Hardware, Martinez & Concord
