The DDC works to improve and expand services to people with developmental disabilities and their families. Major Council activities include:

  • Identifying unmet needs and gaps in services, and working to develop services to meet these needs;
  • Providing opportunities for coordination of efforts and services;
  • Providing information about community resources and making referrals to appropriate agencies;
  • Identifying priorities;
  • Offering consultation, technical assistance, and training to agencies, professionals, parents, and the general public;
  • Liaison with legislative and governmental entities;
  • Publishing bulletins, newsletters, informational & education materials, and maintaining an extensive library; and
  • Serving as an advocate for persons with developmental disabilities and their families.

The DDC meets the 4th Wednesday of each month with the exception of July and August. In November and December meeting dates may change due how the holidays fall.
